Objective: to work out a set of measures, aimed at preventing disorders of intellectual development of younger pupils from general education schools that reside in unfavourable environmental conditions, based on studying the impact of microsocial, physiological and biological factors on formation of said disorders. Methods: clinico-psychological, experimentally- psychological (Luscher's, Ravenne's and Toulouse-Pieronne's tests), medico-social questioning and interviewing. Theoretical and practical results: there was established the structure of mental pathology and disorders in intellectual development with domination of pathology, caused by the CNS early organic damage. Most informative features of mental and intellectual health formation were singled out. On the basis of a dynamic observation of children-residents of ecologically unfavourable districts there was revealed a significant rise in the number of children with a minimal brain dysfunction. There were determined microsocial, psychological and biological factors affecting formation of mental and intellectual development disorders in junior schoolchildren in such districts. Novelty: a diagnostic model of estimating intellectual-mnestic state of said children was developed. A model for preventing intellectual development disorders was proposed, and a program for their psychologo-pedagogical correction was worked out. Effectiveness: a decrease in the incidence of mental and intellectual disorders in junior pupils from general education schools. Application field: psychiatry, pediatrics, schooll medicine, psychology of development.
