In subsequent studies in Ukraine sponsored by FFDU (project 5.4/61) the noncanonical interactions of translation components during channeling were investigated. Elongation factor eEF1A was shown to stimulate aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase activity through formation of ternary [eEF1A-GDP-tRNA] and quaternary [eEF1A-GDP-tRNA-aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase] complexes.
