We first cloned structural genes of synthesis of landomycin E, identified their nucleotide sequences and functions. We showed that landomycin biosynthesis is regulated by way-specific transcriptional factors, which are coded by lndI and lanI genes. Binding of Lnd I protein with own promoter and structural genes of landomycin E biosynthesis was proved. We studied specific pattern of lndI gene expression and LndI protein during culture growth. We revealed new ways to construct producers of landomycin using gene engineering methods. Strains with overproduction of landomycin E and producers of new landomtcins F, H, G, D were constructed.
