The development of the Ukrainian sports terms and the evolution of their linguistics have been dealt with. These issues have been juxfaposed with the sports coverage in the periodicals published in Halychyna. Modern issues of this area of Ukrainian linguistics have been put forward. New lexical entries in particular phrasal units, include not only nominations from kinds of sport but also those from theory and methods of physical culture.
