Chromosome aberrations in peripheral blood lymphocytes with the help of two-termed cultivation (during 48 and 144 hours, that permit to score metaphases mainly of first and fifth mitotic division, accordingly) and conventional chromosome analysis had been studied. Under the standard short-term cultivation observed groups have not significantly differed on the mean-group integrated cytogenetic parameters. Under the long-term cultivation the association between thyroid pathology and the expression of hidden cytogenetic effect in delayed cells' generations had been determined. Thus, in children with chronic thyroiditis significantly increased level of both chromatid (single fragments) and chromosome (abnormal monocentrics) aberrations had been established. The interindividual variability in observed children groups as regard to response of somatic cells' chromosomes to different terms of lymphocytes cultivation had been revealed. It can be assume that delayed chomosome instability expressed under long-term cultivation in children born to irradiated parents may be one of the reasons which promote the realization of thyroid pathology. The data received confirmed the necessity of thyroid and cytogenetic monitoring use among the children of irradiated parents for risk group formation.
