Object of study - epizootic situation on rabies in regions of Ukraine and Europe, epizootological features of rabic infection, anti-rabies vaccines, rabies virus strains, oral immunization, blood sera of foxes and dogs. Goal of the work - the study of epizootic situation on rabies in Ukraine's regions and in European countries, epizootological features of infection, the improvement of prophylactic and control measures. Research methods - statistical, epizootological, virologic, serologic. The analysis of epizootic process in rabies in Ukraine during 55 years (1950-2004), in European countries during 1977-2004 was made. The epizootologic features of rabies were determined. Taking into account these features "Combined program of the principle measures of prophylaxis and control of rabies in Ukraine in 2000-2010" was developed and adopted in 25 regions of Ukraine. The industrial production of "Anti-rabiesinactivated dry cultural vaccine from the strain "Scholkovo-51K" was organized. Amendments were inserted in the specifications for the mentioned vaccine and approved. "Substantiation of the program of oral immunization of foxes in Ukraine's regions" and "Methodical recommendations on planning, organizing and carrying out oral immunization of wild carnivores in Ukraine's regions" were developed and approved.
