The object of research - steers, rumen microorganisms, feeds, mineral elements. The methods of research - biochemical, microbiological, zootechnical. It was shown, that the forages of Western region of Ukraine provided, in the certain degree, the requirements of steers in iron, zinc, manganese, nickel and molybdenum. The requirements of animals in cobalt, selenium and copper were privided by forages insufficiently. At the same time it was observed the positive effect of chromium (III) on the development of microflora and microfauna in steers rumen. Unequal availability of mineral elements and their salts of forages for symbiotic microorganisms of rumen and for host animals may be consequence of water-insoluble, unavailable for microorganisms and animals complexes. Based on data obtained, the mineral addition to the diet of calves and steers from 2 up to 15 months of age, which provided the animals by trace elements, stimulated the growth and vital ability of rumen symbiotic microorganisms and diminshed the production emission by animals of methane was elaboarated. The composition of this addition includes Co, Cr, Mo, Fe, I, Mn, Zn, Se, Ni, S. The industrial investigations on steers 2-8 months of age showed, that the feeding of elaborated mineral addition raises the gains of weight of animals on 14% and reduces the emission of methane in atmosphere on 13%.
