The standard is worked out with the aim to raise the fresh white head cabbage quality, ensuring safety of the output for a man’s life and health and environment preservation. In the worked out draft of the standard on specifications of fresh white head cabbage there are determined demands to the outward form, taste and smell, compactness of a head, its dimensions and mass, as well as regulated rules for packing, marking, receiving, transportation and storage, methods of checking content of residual quantities of pesticides, nitrates, mycotoxin (patulin) and other toxic elements in the output, besides that there are given demands as for safety and environment preservation. Novelty of investigations – in the worked out draft of the standard for fresh white head cabbage there is foreseen the output division into two commercial grades – first and second; used terms and methods for preparing and selection samples according to the State Standard of Ukraine ISO 874-02; demands as for storage according to the State Standard of Ukraine ISO 2167-02; demands are given for safety and environment preservation. The national standard for fresh white head cabbage is being worked out for the first time in Ukraine after abolition of All-Union State Standards 1724-85 and 26768-85. After coming in force the standard will be used at farms of all forms of property in Ukraine, which are occupied with production, storing up and selling of fresh vegetable output.
