To achieve these goals we shall use a series of complementory methods developed in both labs involved: 1)patch clamp/concentration clamp on isolated sensory neurons;2)measurements in skin/nerve and tumour/nerve preparations;3)co-culture of normal and tumour-innervating sensory neurons;exploration of animal model of cancer pain. The aim of the project is to establish the role of P2X receptors in cancer pain. We have study the molecular mechanisms involved in the modulation of P2X receptors by endogenous and synthetic opioids and cannabinoids.
