The scientific-theoretical and scientific-methodical problems of the research of the manuscript and archival heritage of cultural and educational institutions of the nineteenth-early twentieth centuries were developed, their contribution in the development of science, and culture, and education was determined. For the complete determination of the volume and content of the documents kept in the cultural-educational institutions at the level of funds, collections, thematically gathered groups of materials, files and separate documents the special models of the description of the sources complexes and methods of source studies and historical-culturological researches were created. The important phenomena connected with hand written books and manuscripts heritage among other things in the field of provenance, historic development and cultural influence of manuscript Slavonic monuments of the fourteenth-sixteenth centuries, old-printed and rare books, interferences in the field of book culture were investigated. The monuments of other peoples lived the territory of Ukraine, namely Jewish, Polish, French manuscript and book culture were studied. The new methods of hermeneutics of the ancient texts, their adaptation and transliteration in the process of the monument publication were tried out.
