Influence of the degree of vacuum and composition of residual atmosphere on the structure and composition has been studied in coatings produced by electron beam evaporation in space and on the ground. A procedure has been developed of preparation of vacuum chamber, which guarantees minimum content of gaseous impurities in the residual atmosphere during performance of ground-based experiments on electron beam melting and evaporation. A technological sequence has been developed of producing super deep vacuum using a molecular shield in space. A load-carrying truss structure has been designed and ground-based experimental retrofitting of the mechanisms of the shield opening has been performed.
