N. Pis'mennyi, Registration Date 03-07-2007 Organization National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", Faculty of Heat Power Engineering, Chair of NNP and Eng. Th. Phys. popup.description2 The physical and mathematical models for description of the thermal hydraulic processes in the storage system of the spent fuel rods in the KhOYaT-1 at the Chernobyl NPP have been developed. The temperature calculations performed for the spent fuel elements of the RBMK-1000 by storage in the KhOYaT-1 for the existing storage system, by normal operational conditions. Then temperature calculations of the fuel vessels has been done for the existing storage scheme by accidental break of the normal operational conditions (absence of water in the storage room, absence of water in the vessels with spent fuel, absence of water both in the room and in the vessels). The temperature of the vessels by storage in the compartments of the storage pool and in canyon of the KhOYaT-1 for the compressed storage scheme has been performed as well for the normal operational conditions. The comparison of the results fulfilled for the existing spent fuel storage system and for the compressed scheme in the compartments and canyon.
