By the results of these measurements, standard forms of worn rail heads are constructed. Based on theoretical studies and an analysis of standard forms of worn rail heads, new profiles of cross-section of rail heads are developed. Wear indices for heads of external rails with developed profiles and the P65 standard rail in narrow curves in motion with various velocities of a loaded open wagon are calculated and analyzed by comparison. The effects of variations in the rail head profile form on a dynamic efficiency of an open wagon and motion safety are evaluated. A strained-stressed state of wheel-rail contact pairs is studied for various profiles of rail heads and wheel rims in steady-state curve negotiation. A technique of experimental check of the efficiency of the ITM's head profiles rails is proposed to use for external lines of narrow curves.
