Aim of the Standard working out - increase of fresh vegetables quality in accordance with modern conditions of consumers and the society, ensuring r safety of the output for the life and health of people, protection of consumers rights as well as nature preservation and increase of fresh vegetables production, introduction of new qualitative varieties, effective elements of technology. The Drafts of the State Standards of Ukraine on fresh vegetables will be founded on the basis of scientific substantiation of intercommunicated international normative documents in force on quality of fresh lettuce, fresh spinach, fresh green garlic, which, are harvested and saled both fresh and processed; documents on nature preservation, safety of labour during grading, packing, transportation, storage; documents on specifications and packages; the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine and permitted parameters of heavy metals and nitrates presence in the output; harmonization of standards in force. The new Standards are worked out and after their coming in force it is necessary to abolish the Standard of Ukrainian SSR 306-89, the Standard of Ukrainian SSR 305-89. When working out new standards and substantiating scientifically previous standards on conformity there were made changes concerning deviations from the established norms, which were engendered by introduction of new kinds, varieties and dividing the output into the first and secong grade.
