Potebnya Instytute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 During the period of April 2004 – December 2008 the section of Romanic, Germanic and Baltic languages was working out vectors, determinating semantic development of the vocabulary of different languages in various aspects. The factual material of investigation is the lexical fund of Germanic, Baltic and Slavic languages as the most similar to each other inside Indo-European language family from genealogical, historical and structural points of view. The research has been carried out in the following cardinal directions: 1) determinating directions and basic thematic features of derived nomination; 2) etymological and historical aspects of derived nomination; 3) semantic re-construction as the mode of ancient and preceding meaning re- creation and fixation of primary and derived meanings of words; 4) derived nomination manifestations in Baltic, Germanic and Slavic derivates; 5) Germano-Balto-Slavic lexico-semantic isoglottic lines in comparison with corresponding facts of Romanic and other Indo-Europeanlanguages; 6)derived nomination in the adjectival sphere (according to colour indication); 7) semantic transformations like zoonym (ornithonym) – antroponym as the result of derived nomination; 8) derived nomination in the domain of pronouns, and the category of address; 9) monographs, articles and papers for scientific conferences (including international ones) preparation; within the planned theme fulfillment 1 monograph and 32 articles were published in scientific editions ,including foreign ones (10 articles).
