The research project aims at developing a multifrequency radar for studying the coupling between the ionospheric E and F regions and wave activity in these regions, techniques for inferring information on the relevent processes, and computer programs for data processing. The design is based on the existing HF Doppler radar. The object of the research is scientific equipment for probing the ionospheric E and F regions, techniques for data processing, and software. The methods of the research: theoretical and experimental studies, and computer modeling. The principle parts of the developed radar and their specifications are described. The techniques developed for determining the parameters of wave processes in the bottomside ionosphere and the results of testing are presented. The research results are as follows: the multifrequency radar for studying the coupling between the ionospheric E and F regions and wave activity in these regions, techniques for data acquisition and processing, and software package for performing calculations. The results can find applications in near - Earth environment research, in developing a modern radar for studying wave processes naturally or anthropogenically induced in the ionosphere, and for improving training of observers and system operators.
