Object under investigation: electrocatalysts for the reduction of molecular oxygen (pyrolyzed on a carbon matrix) based on heterobinuclear complexes of 3d metals; multistage heterogeneous electrochemical processes occurring in complex electrolytes with the formation of electroactive complexes at the electrode. Purpose of the work: creation of highly efficient stable electrocatalysts for the reduction of molecular oxygen (containing no noble metals) with high specific characteristic for electrochemical power sources; development of a theory of controlling electrodeposition kinetics for the goal-directed election of functional materials and promising electrolytes for the needs of electroplating. Methods of investigation: chronovoltammetry, rotating disc electrode, chemical, thermal, x-ray phase and spectral analysis, electron microscopy, pulsed spectrometry, mathematics modeling. The effect of the nature of heterobinuclear complexes of 3-d metals with nitrogen- and oxygen- containing ligands on the electrocatalytic activity of nanostructures, synthesized on a carbon matrix (SIT - 1), in molecular oxygen reduction reaction has been studied. It has been shown that the activity of nitrogen-containing nanostructures is higher in comparison with oxygen-containing ones. Fundamentals of goal-directed synthesis of efficient stable electrocatalysts have been worked out. The effect of electroactive complexes on the kinetics of stages of electrochemical processes for systems composed of silver, palladium, cobalt, tungsten and molybdenum ions with citrate, pyrophosphate and glycinate ions as an example has been studied. The anode corrosion behavior of silver and gold as a function of electrolyte composition has been studied. The laws governing complex electrochemical processes have been established, and a theory of controlling their kinetics has been developed, which allows one to purposively select electrocatalytic materials and ligands for electrochemical power sources, fuel cells, sensors, promising electrolytes for the needs of functional electroplating.
