The main target of the research work is to determine the character and intensity of changes in the steppe phytosystem caused by the large-scale experiment which consisted in pasturing horses on the reference plot of land with xerotic distinction in grass-forb-fescue-stipa Homutovskii steppe and to evaluate this influence within the system of complex artifitial control of western steppes of Ukraine as well as devolopment of recommendations concerning a set of measures, directed at preservation of rare kinds of plants, as the most vulnerable components of natural flora. Methods of research are geobotanical, comparative-floristic, morphological-ecological-geographical, population studies, protable and semiportable examinations of the main plots of land, cross-lands, transects, permanent and test plots of land, standard geobotanical descriptions of diversified steppes. The research gives the results of the study of gene pool of the plants in Homutovskii steppe, Myhalivska tsilyna departments and transformations of their in order to preserve them; analysis of plants which are recorded in the Red Book of Ukraine, the list of endemics, dominants and edificators, which are growing in Homutovskii steppe. The observations are conducted as for the state of rare, disappearing species; age, vital structures and seed productivity are studied. Structural changes of the pasture territory are analyzed, their quality and quantity assessment is conducted. The recommendations as for the complex measures to be taken to preserve natural populations of rare species and the phytosystem are given, and plots of pasture land for the experiment is in the department of Homutovskii steppe.
