Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology popup.description2 Lympoproliferative diseases (LPD) in 235 patients inhabiting the territories of Ukraine contaminated with radionuclides (Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Volyn, Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine) were studied. B-CLL was diagnosed in 127 patients including 34 cases of the atypical form of B-CLL based on the morphological, cytochemical and immunocytochemical findings. Molecular genetic study confirmed non-mutated state of the variable region in the heavy chain of immunoglobulin gene in these patients. In 74 patients the leukemic phase of non-Hodgkin malignant lymphomas of various types was evident. In 34 patients other forms of LPD were diagnosed including B-ALL, B-PLL, HCL as well as LPD of T-cell origin. The importance of the complex approach for the primary and differential diagnosis of oncohematological diseases has been substantiated, and the methodical guidelines on the diagnostic examinations have been elaborated. The assay for CD38 was shown to be expedient in the primary diagnostics of B-CLL for detecting the atypical form of B-CLL with the aggressive clinical course that requires early treatment with more violent therapeutic approach. The use of the complex approach proposed for diagnosis of LPD provides for the appropriate level of diagnostics and treatment according to the up-to-date therapeutic regimens, which is important for decreasing mortality rate of the patients.
