A new approach is suggested to the formulation of a micromechanical theory of the hardmetal strength, which uses a combination of a structural modeling and statical theory of extreme values. On the strength of the developed semiempirical procedure the total and residual life of industrial high-pressure apparatuses for synthesis of diamond and other superhard materials has been assessed. Using the calculations, the recommendations for increasing the service life of the apparatuses have been made. The possibility has been shown of the application of the developed approach to predict the service life of other hardmetal products operating in the cyclic loading mode.
