A production of liquid biofuels is profitable only in Brazil. Developmnet of the liquid biofules market takes a place to due to the specific protectionism measures, tax deductions and requirements to the obligatory use of biofuelts. Potential of agrarian market of Ukraine for the production of liquid biofuels is investigated, the analysis of [perspectives for the production in Ukraine the 2nd generation biofuels is carried out. The role of modern biotechnologies for the production of liquid biofuels is analyzed. Potential of the already registered plant varieties which can be utillized for the production of biodiesel and bioethanol, presently allows to increase in Ukraine the gross harvest of biofuet cultivars in 1,5-2 times. For this purpose it is necessary only to follow the correct use agrotechnical treatments during crops ciltivation. Probably, on this stage the potential of modern biotechnology will be less effective.
