The methods of researches are experimental quantification of gas-generating properties of coal and coal-bearing strata, 2- D numeral modeling of thermal history, gas generation conditions and migrations of gaseous hydrocarbons on the basis of synthesis of geological, tectonic and geochemical data. The results of artificial maturation of coal samples in closed confined pyrolysis system and experimental quantification of generated gaseous hydrocarbons are considered and analyzed. The thermal evolution of the Donets Basin and chronology of hydrocarbon gas generation pulses are studied. The calculated subsidence curves in gas generating sequences and time-temperature paths suggest the reasonable constraints which were used for the reconstruction of gaseous hydrocarbons generation, migration and entrapment formation. It has been observed that gas-geodynamic events during underground mining coal seams (coal-and-gas outbursts) are typically related with zones of active recent migration of hydrocarbons from deeply seated dilatational traps to adjacent collectors sealed by trust duplexes within shear zones. The most hazardous sites in terms of gas-and-geodynamic initiation are related with P-shears and thrust duplexes. At such localities induced by mining the stress discharge triggers decompressional liberation of methane from adjacent reservoirs.
