The arithmetic operations of algebras represent nonlinear properties of the human visual system. On this basis the classification accuracy of spherical pores and slag inclusions is increased from 86 to 95% by improvement of active shapes method for the segmentation of areas of the circular joint welds of pipes and using of new relevant features of defects. Determination of sensitivity of X-ray control of joint welds and depth of defect is automated, removing the subjective influence of human factor.
