The search of genes synthesis of microcystin (hepatotoxin of blue-green algae) was carried out with genetic markers (mcyE gene). The frequency of toxigenic species occurrence in the water bodies of Ukraine is essentially abover, than in reservoirs of the western Siberia. It is obviously connected with their higher trophic level and water temperatures. In the summer 2009 the toxigenic species have been found in 66,7 %, in 2010 - in 91,7 % of samples from the water bodies of Ukraine. It was revealed that Anabaena and Microcystis are potentially toxic species. The biological factor in particular the allelophatic relations between the algae and higher aquatic plants and between the algae essentially influences the toxicity of Cyanophyta, The microcystin synthesis gene is detected more frequently in polydominant communities, than in monodominant ones. From 34 species of blue-green algae, long time supported in the culture (many of them are capable to produce microcystin), the gene of toxin synthesis is revealed only at one species of genus Fisherella.
