Influence of geometrical dimensions of working surfaces of the shoulder and tool tip and the main parameters of the welding process on the features of weld formation and quality was determined. Nature of distribution of temperature fields in friction stir welding of linear, butt and spot welds of overlap joints of AMg2M, AMg6M and 1201 aluminium alloys is established. Structural features were studied, mechanical properties were assessed and technological recommendations were developed for solid phase friction stir welding of such joints.
