The complex formation of ambidentate systems (derivatives of hydrazones, carbothioamides and phosphonic acids), containing O-, N-, S-, P-donor nucleophilic centers, with Co2+, Ni2+, Pd2+, Cu2+ ions has been studied to synthesize bi- and polynuclear structures, precursors of magnetic materials. As a result, a number of homo- and heteronuclear compounds of polymeric and cluster type have been synthesized, whose composition and structure have been determined by elemental and X-ray structural analysis. It has been found that in heterometallic complexes, phosphonic acids act as bridging fragments, which link the heterometalli8c centers together; in the case of homonuclear complexes with carbothioamide and hydrazone derivatives, both the sulfur/oxygen of carbothioamide/carbamide or hydroxyl fragment and the nucleopholic center of ligand molecule heterocycle act as bridges. However, the complexes in which two and more metal ions are bonded through one group of atoms (phosphate, amine, amide, thioamide or hydroxyl group) are most effective for magnetc investigations because the distances between metal nuclei in such compounds are optimal for the measurement of exchange interaction parameters.
