The main purpose of the research project was to create new and improve existing methods for solving extremal problems in constructive function theory. This allowed a more carefully examine the relationship between structural properties and approximation of functions belonging to one or another functional compacts, as well as to solve the classical extremal problems of approximation theory to some important classes of periodic functions and classes of functions defined on the whole real axis. In particular, we find the asymptotic equality for Kolmogorov widths and the best approximation of classes of Poisson integrals of functions from H_omega in the uniform metric, and calculate the upper bounds of deviations of trigonometric polynomials generated by linear methods of summation of Fourier series on classes (psi, beta)-differentiable functions. The results are accomplished and important not only for solving the internal problems of the theory of approximation,but for many applied mathematical problems as well.
