The present proposal is motivated by the advent of new classes of organic semiconductor materials, lyotropic chromonic liquid crystals (LCLC), of considerable technological relevance where the large orientation order of entire molecules have been reported. LCLCs represent a new class of soft matter in which the self-assembled aggregates form LC phases as well as solid films with in-plane ordering. Within the aggregates, the molecules are associated through non-covalent interactions such as pi-pi attraction. In terms of geometry and electronic properties, large pi-electron conjugation within supramolecular assembly of the molecules, an LCLC aggregate is very similar to that of molecule solid, with an important difference being that in LCLCs there are no covalent bonds to fix the length of aggregates. The latter represents one of the key parameters controlling the charge transport in conjugated materials - the longer conjugation the better mobility of charges, since intramolecular conjugation defects impose the hopping of the charges.
