Stage 1. Developing methods for the thermal modification of steel and nickel surface with vanadium, niobium, tantalum and studying the regularities of cathodic hydrogen evolution and anodic oxygen evolution at modified electrodes from alkaline solution. popup.stage_title Head Kozin Leonid Fomich, Registration Date 26-01-2012 Organization V.I.Vernadskii Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry NASU popup.description2 Report on research work: 62 pages, 47 figures, 0 tables, 28 references. To depolarize cathodic hydrogen and anodic oxigen evolution during alkaline solution electrolysis, methods for the thermal modification of steel and nickel electrodes with vanadium and niobium oxides, as well as with tantalum and its oxides have been developed. Polarization curves of cathodic hydrogen evolution and anodic oxygen evolution from a 30 % KOH solution at several temperatures in the range 25-70 °С have been obtained at surface-modified and unmodified electrodes. The kinetic parameters of electrode processes have been determined from data obtained at different temperatures, and their probable mechanisms have been established.
