The aim of the research is to investigate the processes of ecosystem carbon and water cycles, to estimate its balance under influence of altered precipitation. The project task is to check the modeled reaction of ecosystem to altered precipitation in field experiments. Such experiments have been held for the first time in Ukraine for steppe plant communities. Also the structure of plant communities and phonological phases for main species has been investigated. The research methods included field investigations of plant community structure, root and soil respiration, climatic parameters of the environment, laboratory analysis of soil chemical content, and analytical approaches to the analysis of obtained data.
