Shown that the mine water is a major contaminant of surface and groundwater in the Luhansk region. When discharges into surface waters they increase in water content of salts to critical levels (over 1000 mg/dm3). Solevmist excess, which is not removed from water by conventional water treatment technologies for rivers, restricts the use of reservoirs as sources of drinking water. Determined that both surface and even more in groundwater Lugansk in some aspects of mineral composition (salinity, sulfates, chlorides, iron, manganese, etc.) are substandard in relation to quality of drinking water used without purification, and evidence requirements for drinking water needs first demineralization. We give evidence-based recommendations on the possible exclusion of the negative impact of mine water on the environment by involving them as an alternative source after treatment and demineralization of drinking water.
