New mathematical models of mechanical systems consisting of rigid bodies and elastic parts. The motion equations which are convenient for theoretical research is obtainned for mechanical systems with distributed parameters. These equations represent a hybrid system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations and partial differential equations. Oscillatory motions of an elastic beam is investigated by Galerkin's method. The initial-boundary value problem for the Euler-Bernoulli beam is considered, approximate and generalized solutions is obtained.
