During the years 1986-2010 standardized mortality rates in the most contaminated areas have grown by an average of 24.5% in the regions - 11.7%, while in Ukraine - 8.3%. In polluted areas, the average age of death compared with 1986 in women decreased by 1.2 years for men - 0.4, while in Ukraine increased by 1.1 and 2.0, respectively. The highest levels of premature mortality found among working-age population. The structure of causes of death in the affected area does not differ from the national data, but 90% of deaths occur in diseases of the circulatory system, neoplasms and external causes.
