Subject of research: The role of communicative mechanisms in joining of Ukrainian universities to European integration processes in the field of science and higher education. Aim of work: To identify the role of communicative mechanisms in Ukrainian universities integration into European scientific and educational area by providing sociological analysis of the status and trends of social communication in modern Ukrainian science and higher education. The results of research work: The critical analysis of scientific literature, statistical data, legislative and regulatory framework related for research subject has been carried out. An expert interview and secondary sociological data analysis of certain research areas has been conducted. A theoretical and methodological foundations for research of communicative mechanisms of Ukrainian Universities integration in European scientific and educational area has been grounded. The phenomenon of general information-communication area as a key determinant of European scientific and educational integration has been analyzed. We have carried out the characterization of the place and role of universities in Ukrainian, European and global higher education. In the context of European scientific-educational area we have characterized the communication mechanisms, which are used in activity of modern universities, their integration potential and prospects for further development. On example of universities the main achievements and challenges of the Bologna process in Ukraine has been analyzed. The fundamentals of the information campaign to highlighting the processes of Ukrainian universities European integration has been developed (on the level of local media). We have identified and analyzed current social communication technologies for acceleration of modern Ukrainian universities integration into European scientific and educational area. We have started the development of scientific and practical recommendations for state authorities on policy of Ukrainian education and science integration in European scientific-educational area (in the context of communicative paradigm), and we have begun to write the monograph. Research results are incorporated into teaching process (the course "University Education" for Management students of Kharkiv Regional Institute of Public Administration has been developed; topics of courses "Fundamentals of Communicative Management" and "Communicative Basis of the Information Society" for Sociology students of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University has been developed. Selected results of research are used in work of KNU V.N. Karazin Public and Press Relations Center and in work of Sociology Department Press Center. Research results can be used for further theoretical development of these problems. Also it can be applied in practice of many Ukrainian social institutions, including governments, universities and other educational and scientific institutions. Project findings can be used to provide reliable conceptual guidelines of educational policy in the context of Ukrainian higher education modernization; to improve management capacity in higher education and science administrations; in further development of scientific support for Ukrainian universities integration in European scientific-educational area, regarding university communication resources.
