Corrosion kinetics of stainless steels is characterized by rapid mass gain at the beginning and the subsequent decrease of mass gain or even mass loss. The appearance of oxidized stainless steels surface is uniform with precipitates of individual crystallites. It was shown that corrosion rate slightly depends on composition of materials and concentration of additives. Corrosion rate was slow in all cases. Influence of Zn and Al on corrosion process is insignificant, but the period of test is too short for correct ascertainment of corrosion process mechanisms and formation of oxide scales on stainless steels. SEM showed that surface of 08Cr18Ni10Ti specimens possess the highest uniformity after tests with addition of Zn. Zirconium alloys tube specimens for fuel cladding were oxidized with the formation of defensive oxide films and corrosion kinetics is characterized by cubic law. Some increase of mass gain on zirconium alloys specimens was observed after tests with 0,03 mg/dm3 Al addition. But for exact ascertainment of this fact tests should be continued.
