Paton Electric Welding Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Proceeding from investigation of the demands of medical engineering and experience available in the world practice, the need for a shape-memory alloy of a new composition is demonstrated, and the requirements to such an alloy are formulated as follows: thermal form change in the range from temperature in the household refrigerator chamber up to human body temperature, biocompatibility of metal, its neutrality relative to live tissue, corrosion resistance and mechanical characteristics, which allow the medical product to fulfill its purpose without any additional means. A feature of martensite transformation in intermetallic alloys does not allow finding the optimum composition of the developed alloy by calculation. Therefore, it was possible to determine the influence of each of them on the alloy thermomechanical properties and find the composition of the new alloy for medial applications(at.%): Ti (44.0-45.45), Ni (54.0-55.38), Co (0.15-0.25), Fe (0.06-0.15), Ta (0.08-0.15), Ag(0.03-0.10), Y(0.01-0.020) only based on numerous experiments with variation of alloy components and their partial quantity, for which composition Patent of Ukraine #94009 was granted. Sample testing for thermoelasticity was used to determine the modes of heat treatment of this alloy, which ensure maximum mechanical characteristics, namely: hardening temperature of 1223 K, annealing temperature of 883 K, annealing time from 3 up to 8 min.
