It is shown that such cells with native and cryopreserved human placental tissue have similar morphology, immunophenotype and ability to multilineage differentiation. Placental MMSC has properties of mesenchymal and epithelial cells. The main unique feature of placental MMSC is presence of population of vimentin-positive and cytokeratin 7-positive cells. Placental MMSC expressed of transcription factors OST-4 and NKX2-5, like of embryonic and cardiac stem cells. First identified expression of SPP1, COL2A1 and PPAR-gamma-2 genes in the culture of placental MMSC which capable of differentiating into osteogenic and adipogenic directions.
