Research Aim: development of geometric ships and marine floating units defining methodology . This methodology is aimed at development of effective and reliable ships which correspond to the current market conditions, personal safety in the sea, technical safety and environment safety standards. Research Methods: theory of ship and ships design, probabilities theory, mathematics statistics, risks theory, reliability theory and safety theory. Theoretical and Practical Results: the concept of complex assessment of ships efficiency, reliability, and safety. The method of ships reliability and operation risks assessment is developed at the stage of the concept designing. The methodology is developed of defining parameters reliability of ships with different operation modes. The following software was developed for defining ship design characteristics: "SWATHship", "MultiHull Ship Resist", "Consecutive voyage", "TrampCargoShip", "Ro-Ro Ship". The methods of defining the main ship elements which operate in the mode of consecutive voyages, tramps, high-velocity passenger small waterline area twin hull ships and Ro-Ro ships. Implementation Novelty and Efficiency: a new approach is suggested to solve the tasks of ships designing which uses new solution methods by means of using new original ideas and concepts in the naval architecture and ships design. This allows to increase safety and efficiency of ships and marine floating units during their operation. Field of Implementation: education (education process of the universities which train specialists in Naval Architect), shipbuilding (design organizations and construction bureaus of Ukraine, Shipping Register of Ukraine), water transport (shipping companies).
