Methods of research - generally accepted methods of assessment of distribution of vertebrates and standard hydrobiological methods were used. The distribution and quantity of zooplankton, zoobenthos, fishes, amphibians, reptiles and waterfowl on water reservoirs of Kharkov region was investigated. The gathered data were analyzed for the creation of a cadastre of wetlands. Some wetlands obviously met the criteria of international significance of wetlands. The list of potential Ramsar sites (globally important wetlands according to Ramsar Convention) with brief information about is given, The peculiarities of geese migration (species composition, time constraints of migration, stopover sites) in North-eastern Ukraine were investigated. The methods of damage assessment and the procedure for coverage of yield losses were proposed. The modern methods of birds' behavior control and ways for prevention of geese damage at agricultural lands were analyzed.
