Main requirements to the surfaces that operate under the conditions of abrasive wear, fatigue and fretting are established. Main stability principles for structural components of high-carbon alloys are formulated. The following research area is chosen for further practical implementation; fusion of high-carbon coatings on steel parts with the application of fibrous materials and fabrics. Components of transport and agricultural equipment and pressure forming machines, which operate under conditions of abrasive weae, fatigue and fretting, are chosen for the development and implementation of the technologies of strengthening and restoration by fusion of high-carbon coatings. Experimental and theoretical research has been conducted on the methods of forming high-carbon layers on surfaces of machine parts. Effectivenes of using carbon fabrics and fibres as a source of carbon is demonstrated. Experimental and modeling studies have been conducted on the influence of high-carbon layer application on structure formation. It is found that heat source for the process provision, chemical composition of the filler material and surface density (thikness) of the carbon fabric are the most influantial factors. Modelling of the processes of temperature fields and stresses formation while forming high-carbon coatings has been performed as well as model identification according to the developed procedure and on the results of experimental research. The value and sign of residual stresses in high-carbon layers after the application where found to be the function of geometry of the part where the coating is formed, trajectory of the electrode that forms the coating, the power and type of metal transfer. The procedure of experimental research has been elaborated and implemented, using physical and imitational models, for studying the influence of the parameters of fusion operation modes and its structure on the components of the machining allowances for the applied high-carbon coatings. Recreation models are proposed for findig the required thickness of the coating fusion taking into account the technology of subsiquent machining process. Research has been conducted and criteria for the choise of coating application method are proposed in the coordinates of the energy expenses material consumption - cost. The algorithm is elaborated for designing technological processes of restoration and strengthening by the application of high-carbon coatings with the calculation of technological process structure, operations, parameters of transitions, energy and material flows.
