Theoretical and practical results - Theoretical and practical results – modifier/matrix pairs are selected which exhibit the structural correspondence (complementarity) between the mineral matrix and modifier; the methodics for the preparation of new complementary modified sorbents is developed and such sorbents are prepared; ab initio quantum chemical method is used to determine structural and energetic characteristics of micro-clusters which are formed during the adsorption of cationic surfactants and polyelectrolytes on the active surface centres of layer silicate and the hydration of adsorbed molecular ion. Novelty - for the first time ever the scientific bases of the preparation of layer silicates complementary modified by cationic surfactants and polycations are developed, and the prospects for the use of these materials in various practical and scientific applications are shown. Efficiency of implementation - the developed methods are capable for the preparation of efficient complementary modified sorbents based on domestic raw materials with the labour efforts lower as compared to those necessary for the production of sorbents with similar properties using the existing methods.
