Aim: fundamental comprehensive studies concerning establishing interconnected rules of cluster formation and of the processes in the water systems on the interface of the membranes, sorbents, in catalytic and photocatalytic processes, the creation of new integrated methods for assessing water quality using biotic and abiotic resources. Methods: optical diffraction methods, nanofiltration, photocatalysis, chemiluminescence, a comprehensive analysis of organic matter in sediments and surface waters, adsorption, disinfection. The main results: The effect of temperature on the process of cluster formation in the water systems in the area of phase transitions is established. There are evaluated the efficacy of using nanofiltration ceramic membranes, the physical and chemical rules of generation and use of hydrogen peroxide for effective water treatment, new approaches to assessing the ecological status of aquatic environments through the use of chemiluminescence to concentrate of contaminants are created; biological methods are developed, to assess the level of potential toxicity of sediments, to show the role of transformation of natural organic matter in surface water sources in drinking water technologies, to assess the role of ionic silver in the disinfection of drinking water.
