Were developed control methods over the phase composition of the crystals based on gadolinium pyrosilicate. Co-activation of GPS:Ce with La3+ and Sc3+ ions allows to reduce re-absorption in the crystals and increase the light output. For the first time were obtained Lu2xGd2-2xSiO5:Ce (LGSO:Ce) crystals with the light output of up to 34000 phot./MeV. Substitution of Lu/Gd leads to change of the band-gap width by < 0.15 eV and shift of 5d activator levels by < 0.1 eV, which cannot be the reasons of light output increase by 1.5 - 3 times with relation to components of the solid solution.
