The purpose of the study - to determine the prevalence of occult forms of HBV-and HCV-infection among blood donors and develop the main directions of improving the safety of blood transfusion infection with the epidemiological situation regarding hepatitis B and C in Ukraine. Methods - epidemiological, serological, statistical. Found that the most modern approach to improve injection safety donation against posttransfusion HB and HC is the introduction of molecular biological methods. Methodological foundations for the introduction of these methods should be based on the feasibility and effectiveness of their use when testing blood donors from different categories, which, in turn, is based on determining the prevalence of hepatitis B and C among them, setting the frequency of hidden forms of viral hepatitis, the assessment of the likely risk of post-transfusion hepatitis B and C depending on the strategy and algorithm of laboratory tests. It is shown that the greatest risk may be infectious components and blood cells obtained from individuals with asymptomatic forms of infection, which were not detected by routine methods. Conducted research on indirect estimation of frequency of hidden forms VG some groups of people need to justify mandatory testing primary donors for anti-HBc (total antibody) for HBV. Based on this study to determine the prevalence of occult forms of hepatitis B and C in Ukraine developed recommendations to improve injection safety of blood transfusions.
