Objective: To create a database of obituaries and biographical materials published in Galician periodicals of the late 19th - first half of 20th c. The aim of the first stage is collecting and systematizing obituaries and bibliographical materials published in periodicals: "Galichanyn", "Ruslan", "Pravda", "Vpered", "Diakivskyi prapor", "Zhyttia Holmshyny i Pidliashia", "Zhovkivski visti" , "Zborivski visti", "Dnipro", "Trembita", Pracia", "Nowe Slowo", "Nedilia", establishing of electronic database "Obituaries in the Ukrainian Galician periodicals of the late 19th - first half of 20th c. Principles of research: objectivity, comprehensiveness, history, authenticity and methods - bibliographic and descriptive complex-analytic. The novelty of the study due to the fact that this is the first study on obituaries published in Galician periodicals of the late 19th - first half of 20th c. Research involves the creation of source database eminent personalities of Halychyna: identification and systematization of obituaries and bibliographical materials, putting them into scientific circulation. Results: electronic database "Obituaries in the Ukrainian Galician periodicals of the second half of 19th - first half of 20th c. It facilitates the introduction of information about unknown or little known facts of the life and work of the representatives of the Ukrainian people, which will expand and facilitate the work of researchers.
