We investigated gauge symmetries of the model and established explicit form for transformations of the local fermionic symmetry. Using special form of Firtz identities for D=5 spinors we proved invariance of the proposed action functional for the superstring with respect to the symmetry transformations. Restrictions on the background fields for flat D=5 tensor superspace, induced by the requirement of Lagrangian invariance, were found.
