A priori database of rain models was used to solve the inverse problem of restoration of rain parameters, obtained by solving the direct problem of active- passive rain sensing for different values of gamma drop size distribution. Numerical simulation of active-passive sensing was performed for rains with intensities from 0 till 30 mm/h and for operating wavelength: for radar - 8 mm, 3.2 cm , and for radiometer - 3.2 cm. The numerical simulation showed that the accuracy of reconstruction parameters of rain, as well as calculation speed essentially depend on the change step of parameters when creating a database and values of distribution parameters that form the database. The optimal values for the change step of parameters was defined and it eas shown that a large change step leads to loss of problem solutions, and a small step - to increase of calculation time and solution number. To determind a single solution proximity criterion was proposed . The results of numerical simulations showed that even with a large change step of the parameters in database the measurement error of rain intensity does not exceed 10 % in the intensity range up to 30 mm/h. This algorithm can be used for on-line measurement of parameters of rain (intensity, water content ) over the large areas by hydrometeorological stations. The I- st stage project results were presented in the form of papers on international conferences and will be applied in the further stages of research .
