Purpose of the study constitute the theoretical foundations and methodological position to improve organizational and economic principles of monitoring innovation activities in engineering companies , industrial manufacturing enterprises, industries and regions that carry out innovation activities in order to achieve a competitive position in the domestic as well as global market. Conceptual bases of monitoring innovation activity using adapted to the task of innovation activities balanced scorecard. In carrying out the study was used general scientific methods: factor analysis - to determine the most significant indicators of innovation; systematic approach - the analysis of categorical apparatus and systems for monitoring of economic processes , methods of observation, comparison, generalization and formalization of provisions, to justify the institutional mechanism for monitoring innovation activity based on the balanced scorecard, intersystem approach, analysis and synthesis - the construction of strategic BSC- card companies and strategic BSC- map some of its units ( cascading objectives of innovation activities ) expert assessments - for monitoring components of the innovation capacity of enterprises.
