Obtained implants had optical and mechanical properties similar to human cornea properties. 2. CBHCSE does not inhibit human corneal epithelial cell proliferation in vitro. 3. CBHCSE synthesized from porcine type I atelocollagen might be good alternative to human donor corneas and can be tested in patients: the implants were almost totally integrated into host rabbit corneas during 1-year follow-up. The engraftment passed without "graft versus host" reactions. 4. Original "sutureless" technique of implant fixation was elaborated. It might prevent CBHCSE neovascularisation, delay of epithelialization and astigmatism caused by implant overcompression with sutures. 5. It was estimated for the first time, collagen based absorptive wound patch (CBAWP) "TachoCombTM" after intralamellar implantation into rabbit corneas has been resolved without reaction and with corneal transparency restoration during 4 months post-operatively. In case of CBAWP lamellar transplantation to treat superficial corneal stroma wounds there were no eye inflammation and "graft versus host" reactions, the latter is confirmed by restoration of rabbit cornea transparency and normal histoarchitecture; use of CBAWP in deep corneal wounds treatment is ineffective due to its resolution during 3 days post-operatively.
