Aim: Assessment of water quality of surface water sources in the point of drinking water powerful intakes of Upper Dnieper in seasonal dynamics; the establishment of this basis of recommendations concerning perspective directions of new processes application to improve the quality of drinking water in case the Dnieper water supply atation . Methods: Analysis and systematization of scientific and theoretical data on the quantitative and qualitative composition of natural surface water, the development and experimental verification of a fundamentally new technological scheme. The main results: The water quality of surface drinking water sources in the basin of the Upper Dnieper near drinking water intakes in Kyiv according to hygienic and environmental criteria was estimated. Priority and integral indicators of water quality in different hydrological periods were established. Analysis of modern technological water treatment technologies on representative water supply stations in the basin of the Upper Dnieper was done. The recommendations of coagulation process of Dnieper water purification were developed and implemented on treatment plants of Dnieper water supply station. A perspective directions of application of new methods to improve the quality of drinking water on the Dnieper water station were suggested.
